Polygon has launched the Amoy testnet as a low-stakes environment for building, testing, and experimentation. The Mumbai testnet, which relies on Ethereum's Goerli chain, will be deprecated in Q1 2024, leading to the community consensus to deprecate Mumbai and align with Ethereum. Developers can expect essential validators, infrastructure, faucets, and tooling on the Amoy testnet, which provides a sustainable and future-proof environment.

Polygon has announced the launch of stage 2 of the zkEVM Mainnet Beta. This stage will focus on responsible dApp growth and activation of activity onchain, with new dApp launches expected over the next two months. The Polygon zkEVM client will also be upgraded to increase throughput. Full activation is planned for stage 3 in March, with a major upgrade that removes all limitations on throughput.

Libre, a blockchain platform, is launching a dedicated chain built with the Polygon Chain Development Kit to empower regulated institutions globally to create their own on-chain, tokenized assets. The platform offers unparalleled access to global alternative investment funds and has partnered with top-tier global distributors such as Brevan Howard and Hamilton Lane. Access for distributors and asset managers is simplified through API connectivity, enabling seamless integration into Libre’s suite of wealth management services.

Gitcoin and Polygon have collaborated to enable decentralized community funding through Gitcoin Grants on the Polygon PoS. In the first round, 28 projects participated and received donations from 14,406 unique donors. Gitcoin's Grants Stack, a decentralized platform for grant rounds, is now deployed on Polygon Pos. The collaboration continues with the Village "Infra on Polygon#1" grant round, where 25 projects will participate and a matching fund of 130,000 MATIC is available. Proposals will be posted between January 8th and 13th, and the community can evaluate and donate to deserving projects between January 15th and 24th.

Polygon zkEVM has implemented a new mechanism called effectiveGasPrice on its Mainnet Beta. This mechanism uses the execution amount of a transaction and data availability to provide users with more accurate and complete transaction fees. Users can view and test the algorithms for effectiveGasPrice.

Polygon Village, an all-encompassing program for founders building on Polygon, has received over 1,000 applications for support since its relaunch. The program offers strategic support, funding, mentorship, co-working spaces, and introductions to venture capitalists. It consists of three main tracks: Community Grants, Village Build Ideas, and Village Startup Support. The program also includes a Village Council to oversee the Startup Support and Build Ideas programs, as well as over 40 mentors and dozens of solution providers offering discounted solutions and services.

Polygon PoS has successfully transitioned from manual snapshotting to an automated system for capturing chaindata snapshots. This transition has allowed them to save time and reduce costs. The process involved careful architecture design, strategic decision making, and the utilization of tools like AWX, Terraform, and Cloudflare R2.

The collaboration between @0xPolygonID and platforms aims to address the issues of data leaks, identity theft, and remembering passwords that make proving identity a hassle. Devs are encouraged to implement Polygon ID in their dApps, while users are urged to reclaim their identity and privacy.
