Gitcoin has shared their findings from experimenting with retroactive quadratic funding. They found that retroactive funding makes it easier to evaluate projects and boosts confidence in funding decisions. They are exploring shortening the funding cycle for more flexibility and have made the decision to make all future Citizens Rounds retroactive. Their goal is to help funders see the real impact and they are working on better showcasing this to voters.

Gitcoin is planning on focusing on Open Source Software (OSS) and community-led innovations to drive the growth of the Ethereum ecosystem. They are introducing changes such as combining OSS and Eth Infra in one program round, introducing governance-led Web3 Community Rounds, and allowing badgeholders to decide which communities/rounds are eligible for funding. These changes aim to increase funding and drive innovation. Gitcoin is also doubling down on grants as its main focus and working towards distributing $1 billion through @alloprotocol. They are streamlining and expanding successful grant programs, introducing new structures, and spinning out Passport for independent growth. Gitcoin is embracing its pioneering spirit and inviting the community to shape Ethereum's future.

Gitcoin announces an upcoming upgrade to Allo v2 for the next Gitcoin Grants round in April. The upgrade will unlock new capabilities for the protocol and allow for easier creation of funding strategies, smoother multi-chain experiences, and application editing. The upgrade will not impact independent Grants Stack rounds currently running.
