Stripe Announces Support for USDC Stablecoin Payments
Stripe, a leading online payment processing platform, has announced plans to support the USDC stablecoin for payments starting this summer. The company will enable merchants to accept USDC payments on the Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon blockchains. Transactions will settle instantly on-chain and automatically convert to fiat currency. With over $1 trillion in transaction volume in 2023, over 100 companies processing over $1 billion annually, and 2.84 million websites using Stripe, this move is expected to significantly boost the adoption of crypto payments globally. Beam, a self-custody payments wallet, has been working on enabling seamless crypto payments and welcomes Stripe's move as a step towards their shared vision of stablecoin and on-chain payments.
