Sonic teases next release to cut transaction friction

Sonic Labs previewed an upcoming network release focused on what happens between a user's intent and final settlement, rather than raw speed. New features include bundling, transaction sponsorship, pre-checks and expanded contract capacity so developers can keep routing logic, risk checks and product logic together instead of splitting them into workarounds. Sonic frames "fast" as the floor and this release as the step toward removing friction in approval, gas, signing and retry steps.

SODA (ex-ICX) goes live on Sonic with Kraken listing

Soda (formerly ICX) has migrated to the $SODA token on Sonic and is now live for trading, promoted via Kraken Listings. The project describes itself as infrastructure for modern money, aiming to give DeFi builders cross-network execution and unified liquidity across 20-plus networks. Sonic Labs congratulated the Soda team on the migration.

Sonic charts four revenue-focused bets: payments, AI, perps/RWAs, prediction markets

Sonic Labs outlined where it plans to build next, framing each of four bets on revenue. Payments and FX come first, pushing cross-border transfers at a fraction of current cost. AI is second via Spawn, now split into Spawn Studio (agentic templates for developers) and Spawn Marketplace, running on Sonic's MCP server. Perps and RWAs are third, targeting 24/7 trading with near-instant finality, and prediction markets are fourth, built as licenseable infrastructure with a product on top (Yes/No now in closed beta on testnet). The thread also acknowledges Aave winding down its Sonic deployment, noting its deposits generated under $5k a quarter — not enough to cover maintenance — and that Sonic won't paper over weak integrations.
