
UK regulators are ending their "light-touch" approach to crypto, with a multi-agency raid on peer-to-peer crypto hubs marking a step-up in enforcement. The action coincides with the FCA's detailed regulatory guidance issued to crypto firms ahead of the full authorisation framework taking effect in late 2027. The FCA has confirmed applications for authorisation open Sept. 30, with the full regime launching in October 2027, as the regulator signals it will combine new rules with active policing of vulnerable parts of the market.
