Solana is set to cut its target block time to 200 milliseconds at the epoch 1053 boundary on Oct. 9, finishing a series of reductions that has halved slot times since August (350ms → 300ms → 250ms → 200ms). The change, implemented via SIMD-0525, gives the network five block-production opportunities per second, so wallets and exchanges receive fresher data and validators' ordering window shrinks to 800ms.
