The SEC has opened a path for real tokenized U.S. stocks to trade on public blockchains, letting on-chain venues list securities with full shareholder rights while keeping synthetic stock tokens outside the framework. The agency issued a conditional relief order last week, and SEC officials now say the first firms could file to operate tokenized U.S. stock trading venues as early as next quarter. The move is the latest step by the agency to formalize how blockchain trading venues fit under existing securities rules.
