Ripple has launched 24/7 institutional stock trading through Ripple Prime, accepting RLUSD as collateral, extending its push beyond payments and XRP into institutional derivatives and tokenized-asset infrastructure.
The launch builds on Ripple Prime's rollout of real-world asset (RWA) perpetual swaps offering around-the-clock exposure to 100+ reference markets spanning equities, ETFs, metals, energy and FX. Institutions can now trade through Ripple Prime and post RLUSD as collateral for around-the-clock stock positions — though executives warn the venue still faces a practical hurdle: finding enough buyers and sellers for large positions. HSBC noted markets remain thin even as Wall Street gains a 24/7 onchain route to equity exposure.
The platform follows Ripple's $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road. No contract details, margin requirements or rollout timing were disclosed.
