Open Standard, the governance group behind OpenUSD (OUSD) — the consortium stablecoin launched this year by Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase and Shopify — will charge a 0.1 basis point management fee on payment volume, capped at $0.01 per payment, per documents seen by CoinDesk. Payments of $1,000 or more hit the cap; smaller payments pay 0.1 bp of the amount, so a $1 million transfer costs $0.01 rather than $10.
- Unlike USDT and USDC, where the issuer keeps reserve interest, OUSD distributes it to partners minus the management fee.
- Per the Ian Allison scoop, Open Standard is offering partners a chance to earn equity in the project based on monthly OUSD holdings and flows, with a $50 million minimum to qualify and a 5% ownership cap (earned warrants) per partner.
- Alongside the fee and equity documents, Visa released more than 100 pages of technical implementation and user guidance for firms integrating OUSD via the Visa Stablecoin Platform.
