Itaú Unibanco has become the first bank to formally register its crypto trading and custody operations with Brazil's central bank, notifying the regulator on Tuesday, Oct. 28 — two days before the Oct. 30 deadline under the country's new framework requiring crypto service providers to obtain Central Bank authorization. The registration paves the way for Brazil's largest private bank to offer crypto brokerage and custody under the new regime.
No details were disclosed on which specific services the registration covers or when operations would begin under the framework.
