
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse revealed that the company seriously considered shutting down and handing its XRP to shareholders after the SEC sued it in December 2020, speaking at the University of Kansas School of Business. He said the decision to fight the case was far from obvious at the time, and estimated the legal battle ultimately cost Ripple about $150 million.
