Ethereum locks in stablecoin gas-fee payments for Hegotá upgrade

Ethereum has committed to letting users pay transaction fees without holding ETH, with the Frame Transactions feature locked into the upcoming Hegotá upgrade last month. Co-founder Vitalik Buterin says the work has moved quickly since, confirming EIP-8141 for inclusion in the 2027 fork.

Fees can be paid in stable assets while gas pricing stays anchored to ETH, broadening how users transact on the network and removing the need to hold ETH for every interaction.
