Ethereum's Hegotá upgrade has locked in censorship resistance and native account abstraction as must-ship items, alongside earlier-confirmed features. The Foundation also targets December 2029 for full quantum resistance. Previously, co-founder Vitalik Buterin confirmed EIP-8141, letting users pay transaction fees without holding ETH, for inclusion in the upgrade — so gas fees can be paid in stable assets while pricing stays anchored to ETH.
