Blur, once the largest Ethereum NFT marketplace, will close its website on Nov. 12, with its NFT lending arm Blend stopping new loans — borrowers have until that date to repay or default, and Blur will provide a separate tool afterward for withdrawing assets.
- Monthly trading volume collapsed from about $1.43 billion at its March 2023 peak to under $7 million (a more than 99.5% decline), and the fee-free marketplace recorded $0 in protocol revenue over the past three years.
- Blur's underlying smart contracts stay operational on Ethereum, and BLUR tokenholders retain control of its fee switch; the token fell more than 20% to about $0.015 on the announcement.
- The closure comes ten days after sister project Blast, also created by Tieshun "Pacman" Roquerre, announced its own shutdown.
