Swell Network is developing a Layer 2 restaking platform utilizing Polygon's Cosmetic Diffusion Kernel (CDK) and integrating with the Aggregation Layer. The Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 4844 is set to go live on the Ethereum network tomorrow. This update will introduce blob storage, which is expected to reduce transaction fees on the Polygon zkEVM by 2X to 5X when it is implemented on the Polygon zkEVM testnet in April and mainnet in early May as part of the zkEVM Feijoa upgrade. The Polygon PoS chain will not benefit from this update as it is not a rollup. Polygon CDK chains using Ethereum calldata for data availability will also see similar fee reductions later this year, while those using other solutions are already experiencing low fees.

Polygon has introduced new custom endpoints for dApp developers on its zkEVM network. These endpoints will provide users with better and more precise fee estimates. Recent changes in gas calculation led to estimated fees exceeding the actual fees paid by users. While not mandatory, Polygon strongly recommends implementing these new endpoints to ensure accurate fee estimates. Developers need to ensure their RPC provider is running the latest version of the node software.

Deribit, the world's largest cryptocurrency options exchange, has announced plans to offer options trading for Polygon's native gas token. This move will provide Polygon users with access to Deribit's deep liquidity pool, which currently has around $37 billion in notional open interest for Bitcoin and Ethereum options. By expanding to the Polygon network, Deribit aims to cater to a new user base and facilitate the growth of the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem on Polygon.

A short film titled 'Delivery at Dawn' has been released to commemorate the EIP-4844 proposal, the efforts of Ethereum core developers, and the various Layer 2 scaling solutions. The film highlights the collaborative effort required to scale the Ethereum network, with Polygon expressing its support for the initiative. Polygon addressed inquiries about Proto-Danksharding at ETHDenver, revealing that they are out of hoodies, the estimates are 2X - 5X on the portion of transaction fees related to calldata, and the feature will be available soon in the Feijoa upgrade for Polygon zkEVM.
