Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a partnership with Compass Coffee in Washington, D.C. Customers can now pay with USDC stablecoin on the Base platform with zero fees. Additionally, those who mint the coffee shop's NFT will receive a free can of coffee. Coinbase highlighted the involvement of Slice for providing the Point of Sale software and Real Good Coffee for their hospitality.

According to the tweet, the cryptocurrency industry has been working for over five years to build the infrastructure to update the financial system. The tweet states that the use cases for cryptocurrencies are no longer just future promises, but are already a reality. It also mentions that Brian Armstrong, presumably a prominent figure in the crypto space, will provide more information on the utility of cryptocurrencies at an upcoming #UpdateTheSystem Summit.

Coinbase recently reached a significant achievement as transaction fees on their platform dropped below 1¢ for the first time. This decrease in fees demonstrates progress towards making sending USDC cheaper and moving closer to their goal of 1 second transactions for 1¢.
