The Sandbox published its full post-mortem of the August 22 SAND bridge exploit, revealing the attacker drained 14,742,341.84 SAND (~0.5% of max supply) from the Ethereum vault via a bridge configuration flaw on Base/BSC. Ethereum and Polygon tokens were never affected.
- The investigation was carried out with external security partners and the bridge was quickly secured
- The attacker's wallet has been reported to TRM Labs and to crypto intelligence firm Chainalysis
- Impact was contained, with the affected share of supply limited to well under 1%
