Liquid Network 'white hats' drain 4,000 BTC, vow return

An attacker exploited a vulnerability on Blockstream's Liquid Network, a Bitcoin settlement/security sidechain used by exchanges, draining roughly $320 million in bitcoin and halting all transactions on the network while the team investigated. The operators behind the exploit now claim to be white hats, saying they drained 4,000 BTC from the network's reserve and will return the funds once the software bug is patched.
