"Player Computer" by Gene Kogan debuts in ./spiral
For SuperRare's ./spiral exhibition, Gene Kogan presents Player Computer, an homage to the player piano built for code. The work returns to a machine that played programs a century before computers did: in each of 32 unique 1/1 videos, code draws every frame and synthesizes every note, and the code travels with the film so viewers can fork it and "cut their own roll."
Kogan's long-running subject is creative agency. The work is on view at Fondazione Aversano, NYC, from September 3.
