Safe launched Safenet Aegis on 15 October: the first production-ready, fee-generating release of Safenet, its decentralized security protocol for self-custody, secured by $SAFE. The network runs on Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Gnosis Chain — users submit a transaction for a small fee (about 0.40 USDC per check at launch) and Sentinels verify it, with each verdict attested onchain and an optional Guard able to block execution without a security attestation.
- Safenet is live in Safe Wallet and for Safe Pro users, confirmed by Safe co-founder @tschubotz, CEO @rsquare, and Sentinel @OpenCover on X. Transactions are verified by four independent Sentinels — OpenCover, BlockSecTeam, Candide Labs, and IntentGuard — each checking against the Safenet Charter and posting a bond with every verdict.
- With SEP-56 passed through Safe{DAO}, staking rewards are paid in $SAFE; $SAFE can be staked directly in Safe{Wallet}. Safe confirmed that @RockawayX and @bcap are no longer active validators following the beta-to-Aegis transition — stakers who delegated to them will not receive rewards and must re-delegate.
- @tschubotz framed Aegis as an improvement over single-point transaction checkers.
