Ethereum delays Glamsterdam activation on Hoodi testnet

Ethereum core developers have postponed the Glamsterdam network upgrade on the Hoodi testnet, which had been scheduled for October 26, 2026 at 17:42:48 UTC (epoch 132,352). The decision, made at ACDE #248 per the Ethereum Foundation, came after questions about how EIP-8037 — which increases and separately meters the cost of creating chain state — interacts with existing mainnet smart contracts.

• No replacement activation epoch or timestamp has been set; the schedule will be announced separately.
• The delay also removes the gas-limit schedule that would have raised Hoodi's gas limit to 200M.
• It only rolls back the future-upgrade configuration — it does not revert Hoodi's chain history, and no mainnet activation date was affected.
• Client teams have begun releasing updated clients (e.g., Lighthouse v8.3.2, go-ethereum v1.17.10, Nethermind 2.2.1) that remove the October 26 activation; node and validator operators are urged to update before that date.
