Zcash developers have confirmed a November target for the NU7 mainnet launch, which cuts the target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, making private payments up to three times faster. The 25-second blocks already went live on the network's public testnet ahead of schedule on Oct. 5, giving exchanges, wallets and developers a live rehearsal before mainnet. The chosen block height still has to be merged into the spec and shipped in node software before activation. NU7 also sets aside at least 60% of transaction fees to supplement mining rewards beginning in 2031, aligning with the network's Project Tachyon redesign to scale shielded money.
