Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade activated on the Sepolia testnet on October 6, testing a 200 million gas block limit alongside built-in proposer-builder separation (ePBS), block-level access lists and gas pricing adjustments. Developers then postponed Glamsterdam's activation on the Hoodi testnet after security researchers flagged that EIP-8037's gas accounting changes could permanently alter how existing smart contracts handle failed transactions.
They have since fixed a separate flaw that could have sent staking deposits to builders — a change developers initially rejected before reversing course, with the testing delay giving them more time to examine the bug. No new Hoodi date has been announced, and mainnet timing remains unconfirmed.
