Coinbase announced AWS AgentCore Payments, a live solution using CDP wallets and x402 that gives agents a place to live, a trusted payment rail, and an open way to pay. In a demo, an agent searched 2.2M+ properties, booked a hotel, and paid onchain within a user-set spending limit. Built with AWS, Coinbase Dev, and Travala.

Coinbase introduced the US500, an Equity Index Perp-Style Future on the 500 largest US companies, letting traders go long or short the entire large-cap index in a single contract. The product was announced for US traders on August 17 and is now live on the exchange.

Coinbase introduced a discovery layer for x402-payable services where AI agents can find what they need and pay automatically. The outlet serves as a marketplace for the machine-payments economy built on Coinbase's x402 standard.

Coinbase highlighted x402, its open agent-to-agent payment standard, noting over $100M in transaction volume since launch last year, with 90% of onchain agentic stablecoin transaction volume running on Base. The CDP x402 SDK lets developers add agent payments to any API or MCP in three lines of code, and Coinbase is partnering with companies like AWS.

Coinbase's Business payments suite got a major upgrade, adding more ways to collect payments and support for AI agents and USDT, all live now. Businesses can accept USDC payments from AI agents with native x402 support and no separate payment flow, with no chargeback risk and 3.35% rewards on idle USDC.

Coinbase introduced Coinbase Advisor, described as one of the first SEC-registered AI-powered investment advisors in the world. Built into the app, it offers personalized advice, real-time portfolio analysis, and automated tax loss harvesting, rolling out to Coinbase One members.

Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agents, allowing AI agents to research, plan, decide, and transact across crypto, stocks, derivatives, and more. Users can plug in an agent built on Claude or ChatGPT, set guardrails, and let it run—covering people using agents, businesses selling to them, and developers building for them.

Deribit spot execution can now access Coinbase Exchange liquidity, sharing access and liquidity benefits across platforms. The integration follows Deribit securing a VARA Broker-Dealer license in Dubai, opening deeper spot liquidity and a broader range of assets to Deribit users.

Coinbase established Abu Dhabi (ADGM) as its international tokenization hub, backed by a newly acquired FSRA license. The move lets Coinbase bring global securities to anyone with a wallet, furthering its onchain securities push from the UAE.

Coinbase announced derivatives are coming to the UK. Eligible professional investors will soon access futures, perpetuals, and options across 170+ contracts in crypto, FX, equities, and commodities, with up to 50x leverage. Access rolls out over the coming months.
