Binance is restoring withdrawals after the October 29, 2026 theft of more than $6 billion in virtual assets, which the FBI attributed to North Korea (DPRK) under the campaign name "TraderTraitor." Phased restoration began at 06:00 UTC on November 1, 2026, and by 12:36 UTC withdrawals had resumed for all 15 networks and assets in the initial phase; after an initial spike, withdrawal volumes are declining and stabilizing.
- Withdrawals are live across BTC, ETH, BSC, XRP, Base, DOGE, OP, ZEC, TON, SUI and more, processed from newly generated wallets on an updated Proof of Reserves address list
- Impacted-amount coverage ~95%; the SAFU transfer (7,499 BTC) completed, with no evidence of wallet private key compromise
- The FBI said the actors are converting stolen assets primarily into ETH and urged DeFi services and exchanges to block laundering addresses
- Binance Alpha trading remains suspended; a full post-incident report is promised once the investigation concludes
