BasePaint Year 3 Hackathon winners announced

BasePaint revealed the winners of its Year 3 Hackathon after 32 projects were judged by an 8-person panel over two rounds, with each project read by at least three judges and the eight finalists judged by all.

Grand Prize went to CanvasFlip by @afurourrego, a trading card game where each card is a BasePaint day backed by that day's real on-chain history.

Other honors included:

  • Judges' Favorite — bp3dex by @gandhionchain, converting any canvas into a 3D voxel sculpture.
  • Art Projects — BasePaint World by @cryptologist99, a playable pixel overworld of canvases.
  • For Collectors — Missing Days by @vvegalex, showing which BasePaint days a wallet owns.
  • For Artists — a plugin by @GulaManYOW with bucket fill and other tools.
  • Honorable mentions — Semantic Search, Shard Memories, a fully on-chain viewer NFT by @JestemZero, and STRATA pixel-stroke visualization.

BasePaint opens Year 3 hackathon submissions and wraps scoring

BasePaint posted an update on its Year 3 hackathon, saying it was "surprised, delighted, and a little overwhelmed" by the number of submissions received.

All submissions were made viewable on the hackathon site, and the team confirmed it had finished scoring and laid out the next steps.

BasePaint announced a hackathon to mark its third anniversary, inviting builders to "vibe code" apps on top of its daily collaborative artwork. 2 ETH in prizes plus special swag are on offer, and organizers said no programming skills are required.
