Ambire unveiled Ambire Ice, its first dedicated hardware wallet, built for Ambire and Safe smart accounts and positioned as a companion to the extension and mobile app. The device decodes Safe transactions on-device and shows individual actions — transfers, approvals, batched operations — on its screen instead of opaque signing requests, replacing blind signing with clear signing (ERC-7730).
- Open-source hardware and firmware (firmware forks Trezor's code), a see-through case, and a dual secure-element architecture using NXP and Infineon chips
- Works as a Safe signer over USB, QR, or Bluetooth, with an air-gap switch for offline signing, and is post-quantum ready as an additional Safe owner
- Pre-orders are open: first 200 devices at $119 (with a non-refundable $10 deposit) versus a $159 full price, in four casing colors, with shipping expected in early 2027; a build-it-yourself option with board files and printable case is also offered
- Devices ship to a PO box by default, a privacy detail commentator cyrille_briere highlighted as "everything" about the wallet — transparent, clear signing, Safe-optimized — which Ambire amplified via retweet
- The launch topped ETH Daily's October 30 roundup; early reception also included retweets from ETH Belgrade and Daedalus Angels
- Announced October 30, 2026 via the official X account, a Chainwire release, and a detailed blog post
