0x has turned on Lightning for every Swap API integrator — a rebuild of how the API finds liquidity before routing a trade. Instead of polling fixed pool lists, Lightning uses a pool indexer and a near-real-time liquidity graph so the router already knows where liquidity exists, cutting onchain data calls per request by roughly 50%.
- Swaps on EVM chains are more than twice as fast overall and 4x faster at the median, which dropped from 328 ms to 80 ms; the slowest 5% of requests fell from 805 ms to 350 ms.
- Lightning is faster at p95 on every EVM chain, with BSC swaps ~86% faster.
- On by default for all integrators — no migration or code changes needed.
- 0x is publicizing the live result (median 80 ms) and pointing users to a deeper breakdown of how Lightning benefits them.
