A hacker who exploited GMX's GLP pool for $40M on July 9th has returned all stolen funds, accepting the protocol's white-hat bounty offer.​

The exploit initially drained multiple assets including BTC, ETH, and USDC through a token minting vulnerability.​ GMX responded by:

  • Halting all trading operations
  • Offering 10% bounty (1,700 ETH) for fund return
  • Promising no legal action if returned within 48 hours

The hacker complied, returning $40.​5M in ETH and Frax.​ The bounty payment was subsequently moved through various addresses before being deposited in Tornado Cash.​
