The Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 4844 is set to go live on the Ethereum network tomorrow. This update will introduce blob storage, which is expected to reduce transaction fees on the Polygon zkEVM by 2X to 5X when it is implemented on the Polygon zkEVM testnet in April and mainnet in early May as part of the zkEVM Feijoa upgrade. The Polygon PoS chain will not benefit from this update as it is not a rollup. Polygon CDK chains using Ethereum calldata for data availability will also see similar fee reductions later this year, while those using other solutions are already experiencing low fees.
