Arbitrum has announced further reductions in gas fees for its Arbitrum One layer 2 scaling solution. The ArbOS Atlas upgrade, which went live on March 19th, introduces lower fee floors and average fees. Specifically, the L1 surplus fee per compressed byte has been reduced from 32 gwei to 0, and the L2 base fee minimum has been lowered from 0.1 gwei to 0.01 gwei. These changes, combined with the recent Ethereum Dencun upgrade enabling blobspace data availability, are expected to improve affordability and enable greater economic activity on Arbitrum at lower costs. Further enhancements, such as the upcoming Stylus upgrade, are anticipated to bring additional efficiency improvements.
